Allie-Bell’s Pet Sitting and Boarding will host a Four-Legged Food Drive during the month of August. Donate a bag of dog or cat food weighing 8 pounds or more and receive $10 off a two night stay or more at Allie-Bell’s Pet Sitting and Boarding. All food donations will go to the NEA Humane Society. Thursday, August 3
Adara Boutique will host Girls’ Night Out, from 5-7 p.m. Join the boutique in Downtown Jonesboro for its biggest sale ever. Guests will also receive goodie bags for purchases over $100 and door prizes will be given out. Info: 340-5372.

Saturday, August 5
Join Jonesboro Elks for its first annual Dog Days of Summer, an amateur fun dog show fundraiser with proceeds benefitting the Northeast Arkansas Child Advocacy Center. This event will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will include a dog show, prizes, vendor booths, hot dogs and more. Info: 932-0350.

Gearhead Outfitters and Gamble’s Home Furnishings will host a Backpack and School Supplies Drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the center court of the Mall at Turtle Creek. Shoppers can drop off backpacks and supplies for local schools, and anyone who makes a donation can spin to win a prize from Gearhead or Gamble’s. United Way’s annual Stuff the Bus event will take place all day at nine Walmart locations in Northeast Arkansas. Stop by Walmart in Jonesboro, Corning, Newport, Paragould, Pocahontas, Trumann, Walnut Ridge or Wynne to donate school supplies to more than 20 local school districts. Info: 935-3658.

Friday, August 11
The NEA Pro Rodeo will be held Aug. 11 and 12 at the ASU Convocation Center at 7:30 p.m. This is a full rodeo with rough stock, timed events and cowboys and cowgirls from all over the U.S. competing in America’s favorite extreme sport. Saturday, August 12
Jonesboro Southside Softball Complex will host its Back-to-School Bash Softball Tournament. Deadline for entry is August 7. There will also be a Softball Flea Market, where vendors can sell or swap used softball equipment. Booth rental fees will go to the Miracle League Project. Info: Sharron Turman, 882-5430.

Community Health Education Foundation (CHEF) will host its 12th annual Red Dress Gala, “A Night In Havana,” 6:30 p.m. at Centennial Hall. The gala will feature Cuban cuisine, casino games, live and silent auctions, and live music from Memphis band Groove Factor. Info: chefjonesboro.org.

Saturday, August 19
John 3:16 Ministries will host its annual Community Fest from 3-8 p.m. at the ASU Convocation Center. The fundraiser will feature a catfish dinner, bounce houses and games for kids, live music from several performers and a live auction. Info: 799-2525.

Hot Pepper Nights 5K and 10K, hosted by St. Bernards Development Foundation, will be from 6:30-9 p.m. at St. Bernards Auditorium. Race proceeds will be allocated to the St. Bernards professional education fund. Monday, August 21
The Northeast Arkansas Trail Organization (NEATO) will host Total Eclipse of the Park, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Craighead Forest Park. Participants will meet at the softball fields and ride different loops every 30 minutes for different viewings of the solar eclipse. Friday, August 25
Batting for a Better Tomorrow Softball Classic will take place at Jonesboro Southside Softball Complex, Aug. 25 and 26. All gate fees will benefit United Way of Northeast Arkansas. Info: 935-3658.
